Fixing up a baby's nursery is often a lot of fun. However, it doesn't have to be an expensive task. Instead of looking for supplies for decoration which you have to purchase, it is in fact quite simple to hand make them. Not only will this save money, but it will also give the nursery a very personalized look. You will furthermore have a lot of fun making your own decorating accents. Here are a couple of easy decorating tips that you can use to create the perfectly decorated nursery, even if you don't have a lot of artistic or "crafty" skills.

Simple Decorations For Your Walls

Decorating the nursery walls can certainly be easy and affordable, especially if you plan on doing much of the work yourself. Wallpaper borders can be quite inexpensive, and are easy even for amateurs to apply. Or, an even more affordable option could be to create a stenciled border all around the uppermost edge of your nursery, or perhaps at the height of a chair rail. Using nothing more than a purchased stencil, a stencil brush and some acrylic craft paints, you can add a customized and artistic effect. You might even make a stencil on your own by cutting a pattern out of clear acetate sheets, if you feel especially creative. If you feel rather uninspired you could search a kid's coloring book for ideas. You can also use a baby quilt to embellish a wall. Just attach a quilt rack bar to the wall, and hang a cute quilt. You can add much more to catch the eye by hanging up paintings, or arts prints, or even maybe a few of your own personal drawings in silver picture frames up on the walls of the baby's room. If you have older children, you may even want them to create some of their own artwork as an addition to the baby room decorations. Not only is this a great way to get older children involved, but they will also be quite satisfied to see their own artwork exhibited in picture frames.

Basic Window Treatments

Cute window treatments can contribute a very attractive appearance to the baby's room. Though it's not difficult to find draperies, curtains, and blinds to buy, it can be far more affordable to create your own curtains. You can either buy fabric, or make use of a flat sheet. It's often a great idea to find a sheet which complements the rest of the bedding in the nursery, this will help it all to appear nice and coordinated. For each window, sew two curtain panels, each as wide as the total window width so that the curtains will be nice and full. When cutting each panel, add on about six inches to the length and about two inches to the width, in order to allow for the hem and the top curtain rod pocket. Sew a small hem on the right and left edges of each piece of fabric. Then, sew a deeper hem on the bottom so that the curtains will hang nicely. Along the uppermost edge, fold the fabric over twice to create a pocket deep enough to hold the curtain rod. Form the curtain rod pocket by sewing horizontally across the bottom and top folded edges. Then, simply insert a curtain rod into both top pockets, and hang them up.

Baby Photographs

Surely, no nursery is whole without a few framed baby photos. Select a few of your favorite baby photos to set in cute baby picture frames, then place them all through the room on table surfaces, walls, and shelves. Or perhaps make a picture collage to frame and then hang on a wall.

Don't worry about decorating your baby's room, because there are many ways to do it which are simple and fun.
